Memory, surface, place.
John Dominic Colón’s practice approaches memory through drawing, printmaking and processes on paper. Layers, transfers and material traces make the surface a place where personal experience and history intersect.
In Vieques, his research engaged with the landscape and its historical layers. The work included explorations with cyanotype and found materials, within a practice attentive to the marks a place can leave on an image.
Experimental printmaking at Rising Roost.
On October 13, 2026, Rising Roost hosted a pop-up exhibition, demonstration and free experimental printmaking workshop. Participants shared the worktable with the artist to learn about his processes and experiment with image-making.
The activity brought the presentation of work and shared practice together, extending the exchange between the residency and the local community.
